n the following pages, the object is to record the existing Histories of the Greek Language. Twelve such histories are presented in detail by specialists, with the objective of highlighting the particularities of each (conception, contents, exhaustiveness of analysis, etc.). Another objective is to provide reliable information for those interested in this subject. The majority of the texts are complemented by reviews published in specialist journals and the press, both Greek and foreign, so that the reader may obtain as full as picture as possible of the works presented.
